pregnancy update: 39 weeks, 1 day

How far along: Just over 39 weeks.

Weight gain: 30 pounds at last check up.

Sleep: Well, I’ve had the flu for 5 days now so I’m not sleeping well. Hard to when you can’t breath, have a fever, and the baby is squeezing your bladder.

Highs of the week: My mother in law finally arrived on Saturday so it’s nice having someone other than Jonathan to help out around here. She cooks and cleans and helps out wherever else she’s needed. It’s also giving Jonathan a little breather from having to do everything on top of work a physically demanding 40 hour a week job.

Lows of the week: Getting the fucking flu. I haven’t been sick for more than 24 hours in 7 years, and certainly not with a flu. The timing couldn’t be more atrocious. Dealing with a flu AND being this pregnant is no bueno. I’m coming out on the other end finally, although that means my head is exploding with liquid now. Yuck.

Baby movement: The other morning I woke up with his foot tucked all the way up under my right boob while he was headbutting me in the vagina sending shooting pain down my crotch. ‘Nuff said.

Food cravings: Still fruit but other than that nothing else because I can’t taste or smell thanks to this flu.

Labor signs: Braxton Hicks around the clock, constantly. Tiny specks of blood in discharge (TMI? I don’t care). Some say the flu signifies that labor’s close…not sure. Intermittent cramping. Low back pain kicking in here and there. Occasionally painful Braxton Hicks.

Overall mood: Numb.

Looking forward to: Not having a head full of snot so that I can then look forward to labor/delivery.
